Hi, I'm Sho! Born and raised in Thailand, I've always had a deep connection to food. Growing up, eating out was a rarity. My grandmother, the head chef of our household, ensured every meal was homemade. As a child, I spent countless hours in the kitchen with her, helping out and sneaking tastes of her amazing dishes. At the time, it felt like just another chore, but looking back, it was where my love for cooking truly began.

I absorbed her little tricks and techniques without even realizing it. These skills and her passion for Thai food have stayed with me throughout my life. Even now, living in Madeira, Portugal, I find myself cooking Thai food every single day. It's my way of staying connected to my roots and sharing a piece of Thailand with those around me.

Sharing My Passion

When I moved to Portugal, I quickly realized how much I missed the tastes of home. Finding authentic Thai ingredients wasn't always easy, but I learned how to adapt recipes to what was available locally. I started inviting friends over for Thai meals, and their enthusiasm inspired me to share my cooking with more people. For a while, I even sold homemade Thai dishes here in Madeira, and the kind words and support from my customers meant the world to me.

There's nothing quite like seeing people enjoy your food. It's one of the greatest joys in my life. This blog, Hungry for Thai, is my way of extending that joy to even more people. Why Thai Food Matters

For me, food is so much more than just something we eat. It's a connection to where we come from, a way to share our culture, and an expression of love. Thai cuisine, with its perfect balance of flavors and its rich history, tells the story of Thailand's diversity and traditions. When you cook Thai food, you're sharing a piece of that story.

On Hungry for Thai, you'll find recipes for everything from comforting classics like Green Curry and Pad Thai to fun snacks like Thai Savory Crispy Tartlets. Even if you can't find every traditional ingredient, don't worry! I'll show you how to adapt and still get amazing results. The goal is to help you bring the essence of Thai flavors into your home, no matter where you are.
